Although Amazon Web Services (AWS) has emerged as the public cloud market leader, Microsoft Azure is working hard to catch up in the enterprise technology sector.
According to “The New Normal: Cloud, DevOps, and SaaS Analytics Tools Reign in The Modern App Era,” a Sumo Logic poll of 235 IT companies (specifically those with a minimum of 500 employees), Azure has become more popular, in many cases, than AWS.
Additionally, according to the survey:
“As the cloud matures, organizations are becoming more comfortable with vendors other than AWS and are using multiple cloud vendors. In fact, while other reports show that AWS still has a lead in cloud market share, the top cloud vendor in this survey — which included only organizations with at least 500 employees — was Microsoft Azure.”
Sixteen percent of companies polled stated that they used Microsoft Azure, and AWS came in at a close second with 13 percent reporting it was their cloud storage service of choice.
