Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HP) recently announced that its public cloud would be disbanded come January 31, 2016. HP will not be leaving its customers out to dry, however. Instead, HP customers will be given access to Microsoft’s Azure cloud services due to a new cloud partnership between the two companies.
“Microsoft shares our view of a hybrid IT approach for enterprises,” Hewlett-Packard’s CEO Meg Whitman says, meaning that Microsoft is on board with HP’s desire to incorporate cloud technologies into its enterprise. This will make HP a “preferred provider” of Microsoft Azure, and Microsoft a “preferred public cloud partner” to HP.
The two companies have been close for over 30 years, making the new partnership less than surprising. With this new facet of their extensive collaboration, the way is being paved for even more cloud-computing advancements designed to help businesses thrive in the modern world.
Specific details of the partnership are uncertain, but will be announced publicly in the near future.
