Let’s face it, mobile app development is expensive.
Between the physical costs surrounding app development (choosing between platforms or developing, adding in various coding languages, the software to develop the app, etc.) and the time and money to pay a skilled developer—it quickly adds up.
As more people are turning to—and often relying on—mobile apps, the demand for Mobile Device Management (MDM) has become a necessary cost of doing business. If you need to shave off some of your operating costs, here are three tips to save some cash on mobile app development.
1. Design your app first and then build it
Before you write one line of code, you need to plan out the design of your app. Sketch how the workflows and interfaces will act, list how you want the app to look and make sure that the app is going to work the way you want it to.
If you skip right to development and your design doesn’t work (or ends up with a flawed design), then you have wasted time and resources on a failure.
2. Consider a cross-platform design
Your ultimate goal should be to develop an app that will function across many different platforms as this will bring you the most profit. However, if your plan is to design for just one platform, you should decide early.
Determine if you’re going to develop an HTML-5 web-based app, a hybrid app or a native app. If cost is an issue, a web-based app is the way to go; however, a native app will provide the best functionality.
3. Be innovative not replicative
In this world of mobile devices, professional developers are not the only source for mobile apps. Anyone who can follow a pre-built template can design an app. Better yet, these same template tools can also drastically lower the cost of app development.
