A Machina Research report suggests that we could eventually see a merger between mobile enterprise application platforms and enterprise IoT, suggesting the need for a single platform that encompasses the two.

If what Machina predicted comes to fruition, IoT involvement will become increasingly more important as more of our everyday devices become Internet-enabled, like cars and refrigerators.

Overlapping IoT devices could help improve employee and customer services, lower costs, and boost business processes in the near future. The report also suggests that across both enterprise and platform IoT service providers there will be increased opportunities available.

Additionally, businesses that choose not to integrate IoT and enterprise mobility could experience more architectural issues and miss the chance to develop better applications and data solutions.
