Enterprise mobility management (EMM) isn’t just for advanced enterprises anymore; thus, EMM is poised to have exceptionally good growth in 2018. This growth will likely occur in three ways:
- Hardware and software complexity growth
- Office space privacy concerns
- Compliance for mobile management
Along with this growth, businesses are likely to see paradigm shifting trends. Below are just a few.
Internet of Things (IoT) growth
IoT growth isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. In fact, there are more people on both the business and consumer side adopting IoT. A large part of this adoption is due to the surge in the number of IoT connected gadgets and wearables that are available now. Experts suggest that there will soon be more of these gadgets than there are smartphones.
User-focused technology
The number of mobile users has now far surpassed the number of desktop users. Soon mobile users won’t have to worry about the limitations that desktops still impose on them. It’s likely we’ll see a shift where mobile users are offered more options that desktop users.
Intelligent apps
Yes, we already have apps that are smart, but it’s likely that we’ll begin to see apps that are even more intelligent.
One example is Google Assistant. Yet even then, we still haven’t seen everything that the app is capable of. These intelligent apps will have the ability to collect data from multiple sources, including our wearables, phones, browsers, and social media. The apps will then be able to use this data to predict what their user wants/needs.
Hopefully, these intelligent apps will be bound by Asimov’s “Three Laws of Robotics” — or else we’re in trouble according to experts.
